kenti, kenti, sabrozu! (hot hot, delicious!), 2025

Andrea Danker

Artwork Description

The traditional gragoh cutlet is not just a recipe; it represents a way of life, a communal experience, and a reminder of the artist’s Eurasian heritage. The phrase kenti, kenti, sabrozu! - a playful exclamation that translates to “hot, hot, delicious!” in Kristang, is a celebration of a deep-rooted tradition, a simple yet profound invitation to savour not just the dish, but the moments and the memories it evokes. It invites viewers to reflect on their own familial connections, histories, and oral stories passed down through generations.
