In Gentle Cycles, 2025
Artwork Description
In Gentle Cycles immerses viewers in the dapur, the home’s heart, where flowing text and sound unveil the unseen rhythms of daily labour. Quiet tasks seamlessly connect, rooted in the routines, language, and warmth of the tropical kitchen, reflecting care, continuity, and tradition.
The text evolves from soft, spacious lines to dense layers, mirroring the endlessness of daily chores. Local language adds weight, while ambient sounds—coffee brewing, fans whirring, chopping, washing—ground the piece in the living kitchen. In Gentle Cycles honours the invisible yet essential acts sustaining the home, inviting reflection on the quiet strength within these cycles of daily life.
