SOUP Restaged, Tenthaus x CCC
at SAM Residencies

August 2024 | Singapore Art Museum Residencies, Singapore

SOUP Restaged is a collaborative project initiated by Critical Craft Collective (CCC) and Tenthaus Art Collective, that is part of EX-SITU: Singapore Art Museum Art Spaces Residency (Aug-Sept 2024). As an extension of the group’s 2023 collaboration seeded between Oslo and Singapore, SOUP offers material propositions centred around the concept of comfort that is embodied in the idea of “soup”. SOUP proposes an active process of deconstructing the multifaceted notions surrounding soup: considering the conventions of this humble dish, the stories and heritage it carries, the vessels and containers that hold it, and how soup may be read as a verb referring to notions of powering up or to gather something. Grounded in CCC’s ethos on collaborative practices and lateral modes of working, SOUP is an inquiry into alternative modes of artistic production and practice.

About Tenthaus Collective

From August to September 2024, Tenthaus has been invited as a part of the EX-SITU: Art Spaces Residency by the Singapore Art Museum. Tenthaus is an art collective situated in Oslo, Norway encompassing both a project room and an exhibition space, a mobile studio, and a wide range of curatorial projects. As a collective Tenthaus reimagines themselves and what it means to be artists working with the public, and what makes a relevant socially engaged practice today. The collective works with discursive events, radio, research, exchanges, workshops and exhibitions with an international orientation. Each of its members brings a distinct set of skills, practices and cultural knowledge.
